DeltArts – Peru
DeltArts is an exporter of fair trade Peruvian handicrafts and home decor products that is based in Peru. DeltArts is committed to providing their customers with high quality products produced in a socially, culturally and environmentally responsible manner.
Although they are based in Lima, the capital of Peru, most of their products are made by craftsmen and craftswomen in small communities in rural Peru. DeltArts is focused on these communities in order to stimulate employment and alleviate poverty in the provinces, and thus reduces migration into Lima. Many poor people migrate to Lima in search of a better future, only to find more poverty and worse living conditions. As a result, Lima has more than doubled in size in the past 25 years, from 4.2 
million inhabitants in 1981 to around 9 in 2006.
The producers are paid at fair trade rates so they can now pay for education and health care for their families and can improve their living conditions, all of which gives them more stability in their lives.
DeltArts donates all of their profits from their business to support the social projects of ADESA. ADESA is the Association for Development of Education and Health which is a non-profit organisation that provides primary and secondary schools, diploma trade courses, and health programs for people disadvantaged by extreme poverty or other handicaps.
DeltArts’ aim is to fight and prevent poverty by working with and supporting rural communities in Peru.
