Maroma

Maroma is run by a French couple and produces in particular beautiful candles decorated with pressed flowers grown in the Maroma gardens. The women that work there come from the surrounding villages, and are provided with health, education and other targeted village projects, production bonuses, free loans, and work insurance. One-third of the profit goes back into the Auroville community for education and health purposes and a small amount also goes into research and development, for the purpose of which they have just built a new laboratory.
