Sailboats Mobile

The six sailboats on this mobile are made of transluscent capiz shell from bivalves found in the coastal waters of the Philippines. The bivalves are known as 'window pane' oysters because their shells were used for the windows of early Philippine houses. The little boats glow as the light streams through the sails. 46x16.5cm when hung.
