The pen is coated in Lac, a resinous secretion of the insect Kerria lacca. When processed, it is known as shellac, which was used to make 78 rpm phonograph records. While the lac is still wet, glitter and beads are stuck to it to produce a pattern. This work is done by a small family group in Delhi. 12cm long.
