Bamboo Pan Pipes
Dimensions: 30 cms long with colourful binding
In the Andes no celebration is complete without flutes and panpipes.
The 30cm pipes are called Basto and are made by artisans from Isancuyo Community in Puno. They gather the bamboo from the jungles of Puno, cut the cane and drill the holes. They tune the pipes by ear, cutting and adjusting the length to get a good sound. Finally, they fasten the individual pipes together with string and and adorn the instrument with a ribbon.
