This design is taken from an original painting that Willie painted at Better World Arts’ weekly artist workshops in Port Adelaide. Willie’s painting is of his father’s country the other side of Pipalyatjara in remote north western South Australia on the Anangu Pitjantjara/ Yankunytjatjara Lands. Willie describes this painting as a Tjurkurpa (dreamtime) story. You can see karu (creeks) coming out from the big rockhole in the middle with water. The crescent shapes are ngura ¬– important places from Willie’s father’s country. There are also apu piranpa – little white stones surrounding the rockholes.
