Feeling fruity
Feeling fruity
In Zimbabwe, a fruit-juicing machine helps families get more from their crops. In the past, fresh fruit was sold at give-away prices, but with a juicer people can squeeze more from their fruits and create juicy fruit drinks to sell at markets!
How does this gift help?
In Zimbabwe, a fruit juicer helps families get more from their crops. Farmers are unable to get a good price for their fruit crop at the market, and are often unable to earn enough money to support their families. But with a juicer it’s an easy way for children to get important nutrients including Vitamin C. “The fruit juicer has added value to our local fruits. Now we earn a bit more money from our fruits. In the past we used to sell the fruits at give-away prices as we had no way of preserving them. Now we can store processed fruit juice and sell as the market demands. In my case, and being a single parent, I am now able to pay school fees, buy books and uniforms for my children. With the extra money that I now realise from the fruit juices that I sell, I have been able to support three orphans in my village with school fees.” Never Nyakatsa, Zimbabwe
