In Sri Lanka, we’re supporting poor and marginalised farmers, mainly women, with training in organic home-vegetable cultivation and an environmentally friendly rice-growing technique. These methods of agriculture use organic manure instead of expensive agrochemicals. “Cow manure is very useful to me because it improves soil fertility. When the soil fertility increases, the harvest also increases. When I use organic fertiliser, no pests are attracted to that field.
