Show us your calves
A good set of calves always looks impressive, and these beautiful bovines are no exception. A calf can provide a family with milk, keep their land fertile with manure and when the calf grows to a cow and has a calf of its own, it can be passed on to another family. Rock-on!
How does this gift help?
This calf is a dreamy gift for a family in Vietnam. A cow means people can plough much more of the hard earth to plant crops and feed their family. And, in turn, a bigger harvest means that people can sell the excess to earn money so they can send their kids to school. Right on! A cow also provides transport to take crops to market and gives a family something to sell if times get really tough. And when these furry friends grow up, they can have calves of their own to be passed onto other families. Plus, there’s the added bonus of free organic fertiliser. “Our parents had to rely on collecting bamboo shoots from the forests to feed us. Today, thanks to Oxfam Australia’s help, we’re able to look forward to our children going to the local school, and maybe they’ll be able to get professional jobs.” Pho, Vietnam
